Dear Members,
Over the past 12 months in particular, we have been made aware of a consistent theme across various commands and business areas – ever increasing workloads and responsibilities, despite decreasing teams and resources.
Whilst many of you ‘appear’ to be capable of soldiering on, scratch under the surface and the impact on mental health and general wellbeing cannot be underestimated. Given its core business and the size of the NCA as an employer, one would expect that there are systems in place to ensure that officers are monitored, tell-tale signs spotted and if nothing else, that a culture exists which recognises and accepts the wellbeing concerns raised by staff in the workplace.
The question is, is that really the case?
In order to better understand the current concerns and general wellbeing of our members in the NCA, we have launched a short Work & Wellbeing Survey which we hope will capture how our members are managing in the current climate of, ‘More with Less’, and how it is affecting your work. We would also like to know how you believe the Agency might respond if you were ever to reach out for help, and more importantly, what the impact is on your private life.
Given the nature of the concerns already brought to our attention, I would ask that you put some time aside to take part in this important survey - which literally takes no more than 5 minutes. Armed with the information you provide us anonymously, will enable us to present our findings to the Agency should it become clear that our member’s concerns are being dismissed, obvious warning signs are being ignored and/or cultural change is required from the top down.
The survey is ‘Live’ now and will remain open to all members until 5pm on Friday 12th March 2025.
So, don’t delay and make sure you have your say by accessing the survey using the link which has been sent to your registered email address - if we don't have your current email address, please contact membership@ncoa.org.uk and make sure your records are up to date.
Analysis of the results will be shared in due course,
Best wishes,
Simon Boon
